The short version: these are estimates, not tax advice, and you should not make a financial decision on them alone.

Who these terms are with

This website and the Salary Calculator App for iOS are provided by Alamex Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06332689), 11 Laura Place, Bath, BA2 4BL, United Kingdom, contactable at hello@alamex.com. By using either, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use them.

These are estimates

The calculator applies published HMRC and Scottish Government rates to the figures you enter. That is not the same as calculating your actual pay. Real payslips are affected by things we do not ask about, including:

your actual tax code and whether HMRC has it right
cumulative versus non-cumulative (Month 1) tax treatment
mid-year pay changes, bonuses, backpay and irregular overtime
benefits in kind, company cars, medical cover and other payrolled benefits
other income, savings, dividends, second jobs and pensions in payment
childcare and child benefit interactions, salary sacrifice schemes, and employer-specific arrangements
attachment of earnings orders and other deductions your employer applies

Your payslip is the authoritative figure, not this tool.

Not financial, tax or legal advice

We are not accountants, tax advisers or financial advisers, and nothing here is regulated advice. If a decision matters, for example accepting a job offer, changing pension contributions or moving between Scotland and the rest of the UK, take advice from a qualified professional or check directly with gov.uk and HMRC.

Rates and accuracy

We take care to use the correct rates for the tax year shown, and we correct errors when we find them. We do not warrant that the calculator is free of mistakes. Tax rules also change, sometimes at short notice following a Budget, and there may be a period after an announcement before the tool reflects it.

If you think a figure is wrong, please tell us at hello@alamex.com. We would rather know.

What you may and may not do

You may use the calculator freely for your own purposes, personal or work. You may not:

scrape, copy or republish the calculator or its content as your own
attempt to interfere with the site, or access it other than through a normal browser or the app
present our output as professional advice to a third party

The design, code, text and branding are ours and remain ours.

App subscriptions

The app is in development and not yet on the App Store. This section applies once it is released.

The calculator itself is free. A paid tier removes ads and adds optional features.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your App Store account, not by us.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, in Settings, your Apple Account, then Subscriptions.
If a free trial is offered and you cancel during it, you are not charged. If you do not cancel, the paid period begins automatically.
Refunds are handled by Apple under their policy. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves, though tell us if something is wrong and we will help where we can.
Prices are shown in the App Store before you confirm, and may change with notice.

Availability

We provide the site and app on an "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or withdraw either, and we do not promise uninterrupted service.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the calculator's output, including financial loss from a decision you took based on an estimate. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you keep the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site or app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
